Instagram shows a view count on videos, and since video posts now play as Reels, that number is often the first thing people notice. Try free Instagram views here with only a public link.

On Instagram, a view is counted when a video starts playing. Feed videos, Reels and carousel posts that include a video all show a play count. Photo only posts do not show views to the public, but you can see how many accounts saw them in your own Insights.

This page is for general video views on a post link. If your content is a Reel and you want the dedicated Reel tools, including the live 1,000 views a minute module, use the free Instagram Reel views page instead. For Stories, use the Story views page, because Stories have their own viewer list.

Views also include plays from people who do not follow you, for example when your video shows in Explore or in a hashtag page. Your Insights split views into followers and non followers, which helps you see where your plays really come from.

Free view trials on this page

The best free views come from people who choose to watch. A few habits help on Instagram specifically. Use a strong cover frame so the video stands out in your grid. Write the first line of the caption as a reason to watch. Share the post to your Story with a sticker, and reply to comments quickly so the conversation keeps going.

Posting regularly matters more than posting a lot on one day. Check Insights to see which videos people watched to the end, then make more of that kind.

Try to keep each video focused on one idea. A short, clear video is easier to watch to the end than a long one with several topics, and it is easier for you to judge what worked.
