How it works.
The AI. The sources. The honest parts.
What this is
Indiagram Conversations is an entertainment and education tool. You can chat with AI versions of historical figures, ancient sages, and (eventually) scriptural deities — all framed honestly as AI representations grounded in their actual writings.
It's not a religious authority. It's not life advice. It's not a guru. It's a chat experience that gives you something to think about, in voices that have shaped how people have thought for centuries.
How the AI knows what to say
For each personality, we've hand-curated dozens of passages directly from their writings — Arthashastra for Chanakya, Meditations for Marcus Aurelius, the Analects for Confucius, the Tao Te Ching for Lao Tzu, and so on. We tag each passage with topics (leadership, wisdom, death, strategy, ethics).
When you ask a question, the system finds the most relevant passages and feeds them to a large language model along with instructions on how that personality speaks. The AI responds in their voice, citing the source.
That's it. No magic. No hidden training. No claim that we've "resurrected" anyone. Just a careful pipeline: curated source material + voice instructions + AI generation + citations.
Why every response has a citation
So you can verify it. If Marcus Aurelius tells you "what stands in the way becomes the way," we cite Meditations, Book 5. You can open the source, read the passage in context, and decide whether our representation feels true to it.
Citations are also our honesty mechanism. They keep us accountable to the actual texts. If we make something up — if the AI hallucinates a quote — the citation makes the hallucination obvious.
What the asterisk means
Some names — like Krishna* — carry an asterisk. It's our way of saying "this is our representation, not THE divine being." We explain it in detail on the asterisk page.
What happens to your chats
You don't need an account. We don't ask for your email or phone. When you start chatting, we generate an anonymous session token and store it as a cookie on your device. Your chats are tied to that token.
Your chats are kept for 90 days from your last activity, then automatically deleted. If you clear your cookies or switch devices, your chats are not portable — there's no login to recover them. That's a deliberate trade-off: simpler, more private, less data we have to protect.
What we don't do
We don't give real-time advice. If you ask Marcus Aurelius what to do about your boss, he'll respond with Stoic principles — not legal counsel or HR direction.
We don't give medical, legal, financial, or therapeutic advice through any of our personalities. Please don't ask. If you have an emergency, contact appropriate professionals.
We don't claim spiritual authority. None of these personalities — even the deity-tier ones with asterisks — are speaking for any tradition, faith, or community.
We don't predict the future. We don't channel spirits. We don't bless or curse anything.
How we pay for this
Indiagram Conversations is free to use. We're funded by Google AdSense ads displayed throughout the site. We don't sell your data. We don't run sponsored chats. We don't have premium tiers (yet).
If the project grows, we may add a way for users to support us directly. For now, just using the site is enough.
Anything else?
Yes, plenty. Read about the asterisk, the FAQ, our terms, or privacy policy. If something's still unclear, the contact page is open.
