How LinkedIn Page Follow Invitations Work
Page admins can invite their connections to follow a LinkedIn company Page using monthly credits. Who can invite, how credits work and how to use them well.

The 30 second version
- Super admins and content admins of a LinkedIn Page can invite their first degree connections to follow the Page.
- Each invitation uses one credit. Credits belong to the Page, are shared by all its admins and renew every month.
- When someone accepts, the credit comes back to the Page.
- The person invited sees who sent the invitation, so pick people who would genuinely care.
- Following a Page is not the same as connecting with the admin. It only means they see the company's updates.
Who can send invitations?
Only Page admins with the right role can send follow invitations. On LinkedIn that means a super admin or a content admin. Analysts and other limited roles cannot.
The invitation goes to your own first degree connections. You cannot invite strangers, and you cannot invite someone who already follows the Page.
Following a Page vs connecting with a person
| Action | What it means |
|---|---|
| Follow a Page | The member sees the organisation's posts and updates in their feed |
| Connect with a member | A two way personal connection between two LinkedIn profiles |
Accepting a Page invitation does not connect the person with the admin who sent it, and it does not give the company access to their profile beyond what is public.
What to set up before inviting
LinkedIn asks for some Page details to be complete before the invite feature works properly, including the overview (description), industry and company size. If the Page supports several languages, fill in the description for each. LinkedIn also says the admin needs a minimum number of connections before the option appears, without publishing an exact number.
Even when it is not required, finish the Page properly: logo, cover image, website, location and a few recent posts. Someone who receives an invitation will look at the Page before accepting. An empty Page gets declined.
How to send invitations
On desktop:
- Open your Page and switch to the admin view.
- Click Invite to follow (sometimes under the Grow or Admin tools menu).
- Search or filter your connections by location, industry or company.
- Select the people you want to invite.
- Check the credit balance and click Invite.
On mobile: open the Page admin view, go to the dashboard or share options and choose Invite connections. Menu names change, so follow what your app shows.
How invitation credits work
| What happens | Effect on credits |
|---|---|
| You send an invitation | One credit is used |
| The person accepts | The credit returns to the Page balance (it can take a few days to show) |
| The person ignores or declines | The credit stays used for that month |
| Start of a new month | The Page's credits renew |
Because credits are shared, one admin can use up the whole month's balance for the team. Agree who will invite whom before you start. The exact number of monthly credits can change and LinkedIn has adjusted it over time, so check the balance shown in your admin view.
LinkedIn's paid Premium Company Page adds extra invitation options, such as inviting people who engaged with your posts. Check what is included and whether it is worth it for your business before subscribing.
How to use invitations well
- Invite people who would benefit. Clients, partners, former colleagues in the same industry, people who attended your events.
- Avoid mass invites to everyone. Your name is on every invitation. Irrelevant invites annoy people and waste credits.
- Post before you invite. A Page with two or three useful recent posts converts better than a blank one.
- Invite in small rounds. Watch acceptance, then adjust who you invite next.
- Keep posting afterwards. A follower who sees nothing useful will not engage, and LinkedIn shows Page posts based on engagement.
How to see or withdraw invitations
Go to My Network, open Manage invitations, choose Sent and then the Pages tab. You can withdraw an invitation there, but the credit is not returned.
Growing beyond your own network
Invitations only reach people you already know. For new audiences, Page posts that employees reshare, useful articles and events work better over time. If you want a stronger starting number while you build that, our LinkedIn company page followers page explains what is available. Keep it modest, and remember that LinkedIn values genuine engagement, so content and real connections still matter most. Our guide to LinkedIn followers vs connections explains which number to focus on.
