Facebook groups are community spaces, separate from Pages. The member count shows under the group name and in search results when people look for groups. Admins can see member growth in Group insights once the group is big enough.

Groups can be Public, where anyone can see posts, or Private, where only members can. Groups can also be Visible or Hidden in search. For this service, the group needs to be one that outside accounts can find and join.

A member count also helps when you invite people from your Page or share the group in posts. A group that already has some members looks more settled to someone deciding whether to join.

Important settings before you claim

If your group has membership questions or needs admin approval, new join requests will wait in Member requests. Either approve them as they come in or turn off approval for a short while. If you leave them pending, the members will not show in the count.

Delivery normally starts within minutes once you claim. Member counts can move a little over time. Trials with Refill can be topped up within their refill period if some members leave.

Growing a Facebook group yourself

Groups grow when members feel the group is useful and lively. Give it a clear name people would search for, such as a city plus a topic. Write simple rules, pin a welcome post, and ask new members to introduce themselves. Weekly theme posts, like a Monday question or a Friday share thread, give people a reason to come back.

Link the group to your Facebook Page so Page followers see it, and mention it in your other channels. Approve requests quickly, because people lose interest if they wait for days.

Use the group Units or Guides feature, if your group has it, to organise useful posts so new members find them quickly. Ask a few trusted members to help as moderators once the group grows.

When to use a paid pack
